Large Truck & Bus Traffic Enforcement Training Course

Greetings Chiefs!

I want to tell you about a new training course developed by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards & Training (IADLEST).  It is called the “Large Truck & Bus Traffic Enforcement Training  Course.”  It is a two-hour course designed to help your officers detect and enforce basic unsafe movement violations committed by drivers of large trucks and buses.  As you may know, the state of North Carolina is in the top 5 in the US for fatalities and personal injury caused by these drivers and this training will give officers more tools and techniques to actively engage these operators thereby reducing crashes and lowering the number of victims involved in these tragic wrecks. I’ve attached a few articles of the types of crashes that this course will prevent.

We are in the process of scheduling training classes throughout the state.  There is no charge for this training for your officers or attending department members.  The course will be taught by a certified NC Instructor and certificates will be provided by IADLEST.  In addition, this course is recognized as a “nationally certified” course and your officers will be able to count this training towards their in-service requirement.  We can bring this training to your classroom, making it even easier for your officers to attend.

I hope you will consider this training.  Both FMCSA and IADLEST are committed to making our roadways safer for all citizens and providing officers with first rate training.  Please feel free to contact me to schedule or for any other questions you may have.
