Region VII Meeting - April 15, 2025 AND Chiefs Legislative Day (April 16th)

Information for Chiefs Day at the General Assembly
April 16, 2025

We will gather at 8:30 AM in the Explore at 4 room of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences (parking and museum room information attached). This is a different location from the last 2 years. After a brief review of pending issues to discuss with legislators, we will proceed across the street to the Legislative Building. From then until 11:00 AM, you are to meet with your legislators or attend relevant committee meetings (the daily calendar of House and Senate committee meetings is available at front desk of legislative building or online at ncleg.gov).

At 11:00 AM we will meet as a group in room 415, Legislative Office Building located behind the Legislative Building. House and Senate leaders will meet with us in room 415 until 1:00 PM to discuss issues and answer questions from the group. At 1 PM we will gather as a group on the main red carpet stairway of the Legislative Building (where we entered) for a group photo. This concludes the organized events and you are then free to meet or have lunch with your legislators. There is a full cafeteria in the basement of the Legislative Building and 2 snack bars with hot food in the basement of the Legislative Office Building.

It is highly recommended that you make appointments with your legislators in advance. Any legislator’s office can be reached by the main number of 919-733-4111 and asking to be connected to their office. Attached are room numbers and direct office phone numbers for House and Senate members (“LB” is Legislative Building, “LOB” is Legislative Office building).

This event is very important in pursuing the Association legislative goals on a range of issues including retirement, training, personnel management, regulation of hemp and other substances, squatters, guns, and various criminal law enforcement issues. Your voice is of great value to legislators and your participation is greatly appreciated!

Remember that on the day before, April 15, there is the Region VII regional meeting followed by the NCACP Board of Directors meeting (information below)
